Kodak made the Instamatic 314 camera from 1968-1971. The camera used a 126 film cartridge, which is no longer available today. Over the years, I have inherited several old film cameras from my grandfather. This particular Instamatic has been in a box in my basement for years because I didn't think I could use it without the film cartridge. Recently, I discovered that I could retrofit a regular 35mm roll of film to use in the camera. It requires a dark room, some cardboard, and pulling the pre-exposed film out of the canister and re-rolling it inside the camera. The result? Imperfect images that overlap, contain intense light leaks, and have a dream-like quality.
This Vol. 1 collection of photos is from my first test roll, all shot in Philadelphia, PA.
